As African American women, it can be quite challenging to find the "perfect" pair of jeans. When shopping, we usually consider the fit within the waist, buttocks, and length.
However, are there other criteria that you think of when shopping for the "perfect" pair of jeans? When I was younger, I found myself wearing jeans that were baggy. As I got older, I found that my jeans fell into two categories:
1. "The Club" Jeans
2. "Homey" Jeans
"The Club" jeans were tight and comfy. They were meant to attract the eye and attention of the opposite sex. My "Homey" jeans were jeans that I wore around the house, to meet with the girls, or just hang out.
As I matured and gained confidence, it didn't matter what others' thought of me and my look within my jeans. I discovered that it's the way that I carry and present myself that projects my femininity. Whether comfy or baggy, my jeans didn't define me, my personality, or my sexuality.
